CONTEMPORARY LUTE MUSIC is something of an unusual phenomenon. We normally associate the instrument with music of a much older vintage. This recording, by the Swedish lutenists Peter Söderberg and Sven Åberg, of music by leading twentieth century composers, represents something of a new departure. The soft texture of the lutes adds a contemplative aspect unusual to these compositions.
